First of all we would just like to send our best regards to all of you out there for the new year of 2007!!
The month of December was an amazing month not only in all areas of the fishing department, but we were graced with some fantastic weather, calm seas and for the most part clean water.
The light tackle has been at its tops over the past month with first time anglers taming some beast fish. The G.T s have been continuously attaching themselves to the small local live karapow that have been on offer. The biggest to date that we have tagged was a fish that measured 111cm – not bad on 20lb tackle… There have also been a good couple measuring over and around the 100cm mark and they aren’t the only fish troubling us. Good sized yellowspot kingfish have been an every outing occurrence as have the ever present greenspots.
We have had some really good king mackerel warm to our baits as well with a few species getting around the 20kg mark. I was lucky enough to be able to give one of my guests an experience of a life time, catching a small black marlin on just 20lb tackle, the sort you would use to play with bass, it was a story all on its own.
The fly fishing has been nothing under standard with productive days of world class fishing and good catches of a wide variety of fish that have been of great quality.
The sailfish have still been popping up and showing us their bills from time to time and of cause the bonnies have been doing their usual thing of mincing up the surface of the ocean.
With such a great ending to the year it makes me look even more forward to an even better year of bending rods at Benguerra!
Keep those sticks bending
Best regards
Glanville
