The first month of 2009 has been very exciting on Benguerra Island. We experienced unusually heavy rains over December and early January, measuring three times our annual rainfall over a two week period. On the positive side all this rain has ensured that the Island is currently a lush green tropical paradise.
However the rains also resulted in an additional lake forming... as our runway is now completely covered under a meter of water. It is the first time in years that this has happened, so guests can, over the next couple of months enjoy this changed landscape. |

2009 RATES:
As the markets continue to strain under the World Economic situation and pressure mounts on Tour operators to provide more value added packages to guests, Benguerra Lodge has taken the decision to meet our valued operators halfway and review our published rates for 2009/10.
We are pleased to announce that the new Rack rates valid from 01 April 2009 till 31 March 2010 are as follows:
Cabana: USD 590,- pp per night FI
Casita : USD 695,- pp per night FI
We will be e-mailing the complete updated 2009 rate sheets to all operators. If you do not receive your copy within the next couple of days, please e-mail us on reservations@benguerra.co.za and we will forward it to you.

Villa Chibuene:
Our Villa rate for 2009, effective from the 1st of April, will also be structured slightly different.
Since completion, Villa Chibuene, has proven hugely popular, especially with families. The design of the new villa is much more spacious, with a comfortable lounge and dining room and expansive wooden decks linking the two well appointed en-suite bedrooms. The private chef catering to guests’ unique requirements also adds a very special touch to this luxurious experience, making it an ideal option for a relaxing family holiday. (We recently updated our website www.benguerra.co.za with new pictures of the Villa, please have a look.)

Villa Chibuene rates:
2 people: USD 775,- per person per night FI
3 People: USD 678,- per person per night FI
4 People: USD 629,- per person per night FI
For a small Family group, consisting of a maximum of 6 people, we are able to offer a combination of the Private Villa and Casita 10, conveniently situated about 25m away, at an excellent Group rate of just:
USD 3000,- per night FI. |

Changes to Child Accommodation:
Following valued feedback from families who stayed at Benguerra Lodge over the last couple of months, a decision was made to discontinue the Child Bungalows, which were situated behind the Casitas. Families declared that they much preferred the private Villa for their holiday, as the facilities and the proximity of the rooms linked by the wooden deck, were much more convenient for their family’s needs, thus ensuring the perfect holiday experience. From the 1st of February, all new family bookings will be accommodated in the Private Villa on the current Villa rates.

Helicopter Transfers:
We are pleased to announce that we will be doing scenic Helicopter transfers from Vilanculos Airport to Benguerra Lodge starting the first week in February.
This is an excellent option for guests to travel to the Island in style while enjoying the magnificent views of the Bazaruto Archipelago from the air.
The introductory cost of the Helicopter transfers valid till the end of March, will be USD 200,- per person return (excluding the USD10,- pp domestic airport tax)
From the 1st of April these transfers will cost USD 250,- per person return. (excluding the USD10,- pp domestic airport tax.)
Please note, as our runway is currently completely waterlogged, we are not able to offer any fixed-wing air transfer. |

Pelican Air:
Pelican Air now also operates from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to Vilanculos on a Saturday! Guests are now able to travel this route on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, which makes it even easier to combine your Bush and Beach packages! |
